We are thrilled to announce the incredible success of our “AI Tools for Legal Research” practical skills lab, held today in partnership with Wivo Legal Tech 4 Africa!
It was a full house as legal professionals from across Freetown joined us for a transformative session on leveraging Artificial Intelligence in their practice. This wasn’t just a lecture; it was a dynamic, hands-on workshop designed to build real-world skills.
The session, held at the Africell American Corner, was a dynamic exploration of AI’s transformative potential. Participants were guided through the complexities of AI, introducing the powerful C.R.E.A.T.E. model for effective prompt engineering.
The energy in the room was electric during the breakout sessions! Participants engaged in a highly practical, two-hour lab, moving beyond theory to gain real-world skills. The agenda focused on equipping them with the tools to enhance legal research, drafting, and client communication ethically and effectively. They were grouped to test and compare outputs from ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, and Copilot, leading to a fantastic discussion on the strengths and weaknesses of each model. We also explored specialized tools like Lexis+ AI and NotebookLM to see how technology is reshaping legal research.
The feedback was overwhelmingly positive! We were inundated with remarks from participants calling the session “eye-opening” and “essential for the modern lawyer.” The demand is clear: there is a strong call for more advanced sessions and, excitingly, for this crucial training to be extended to the next generation of legal minds, our law students, and to esteemed members of the judiciary.
At ILRAJ, we are committed to advancing justice and modernizing the legal profession in Sierra Leone. Today’s workshop is a testament to that mission. We are incredibly proud to see our legal community so eagerly embracing the future!
A big thank you to all the brilliant minds who participated and made this event a resounding success.
The future of law is bright in Sierra Leone! 🇸🇱⚖️💡
